Are They Monogram Canvas Totes? LV's Other Designs

For a term that means something so specific, "tote", really gets tossed around in the luxury handbags world. Often people mistakenly use it to describe a smaller handbag or a shoulder bag. A tote is specifically a large, open concept bag, to be held in hand. Often they can also be warn across the body like the Keepall…sometimes they can be worn on the shoulder like the Neverfull, sometimes they are not so large at all, like the Speedy. Well, you can see why there's confusion. Let's look at some of the more original LV designs that are often referred to as a monogrammed tote bag, even if they don’t necessarily fit the "tote' definition.

The Noe

The Noe is an incredibly popular LV bag. due in large part to how unique it is. That also makes it tough to define. While it is a large, open topped canvas bag, it only has one strap and is usually worn over the shoulder. Most people refer to it as an LV Monogrammed tote bag. It is though in fact the original bucket style bag, and ultimately a shoulder bag, but that won't stop people from calling it a tote.

The Bucket Bag

The Bucket Bag is another design much like the Noe that is defined by it's slender cylindrical shape. The difference here is that is not gathered by a drawstring as the Noe is, and it does in fact have the two handles that make it fit under the category of tote by definition. The Bucket is however generally worn over the shoulder. It also comes with a matching wallet and has a rather sturdy shape as opposed to other totes that tend to collapse around their contents, making it one of a kind design.

The Stresa

The Stresa is another of the borderline monogram canvas totes that has been incredibly popular thanks to the uniqueness of the style. Somewhere between a shoulder bag, a tote, a briefcase and a hobo (thanks to the slouchy shape), the Stresa is ultimately simple and functional design, but it's use it's just as often strictly fashion as it is for travel. With a wrap around zipper and two handles that can also be tucked under the shoulder, it's both a tote, and not.
